Created in 1986 by the
harbour cities of Nantes and Saint Nazaire, this prize awards
the best fiction work translated into French in the year.
The name of Laure Bataillon, who was the award winner in 1988,
was given to the Prize after she passed away, paying tribute
to her memory.
The Laure Bataillon Prize is jointly granted to the foreign
writer and to his tranlator. It amounts to 15 000 euros which
are equally shared between the author and the translator.
The Laure Bataillon Prize’s jury is made of writers,
translators and literary critics.
